Aquarius Season begins!
It’s a chaotic week, folks!
We have a TON of planetary infighting all week long, along with two larger aspects: Aquarius Season officially starts and we have our annual meeting of the Sun with serious Saturn.
January’s Planetary Infighting Peaks This Week:
As you may have read in last week’s Weekly Cosmic Forecast, there are all sorts of cosmic kerfuffles all month, and this week contains the biggest concentration of them!
Here are the dates THIS WEEK when we might either wake up feeling out of sorts OR see something play out on the world’s stage:
1/17: Jupiter square Uranus
(Ideology/optimism at odds with breaking rank and with rebellion; sudden shifts in our thinking.)
1/20: Mars conjunct Uranus
(Aggression/toxic masculinity meets up with rule-breaking and rebellion.)
1/22: Mars squares Jupiter
(Aggression/toxic masculinity at odds with our expansion and growth.)
1/23: Sun conjunct Saturn
(The obstacles to our way forward are highlighted; Patriarchy, our big corporations, governments, systems lit up for us to clearly see.)
Out of all of these, the Sun-Saturn conjunction on Saturday the 23rd might feel the strongest for us all. These two planets meet up only once a year, and can feel emotionally like a “downer.”
The Sun guides our vitality, energy and focus. It lights up areas of our life. Saturn, on the other hand, will structure, constrict, strategize, and enforce rules. Saturn makes us see reality, not possibility. If there are obstacles on our path, Saturn makes us roll up our sleeves to work through the obstacle. We usually don’t get last-minute miracles to “save the day”: the “miracle” is our own commitment, hard work, and grit.
When we have our yearly meeting of the Sun and Saturn, shit gets real. We SEE all the flaws in our plans, maybe feel discouraged, and then—if we harness the power of Saturn—we rebuild better.
On the world’s stage—even though I predict chaos and attempted upheaval by the defeated autocratic sympathizers—I believe that after we safely inaugurate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, this Saturday 1/23 will feel like we all exhale…and finally see ALL the disaster we have to clean up.
Emotionally, I imagine it like being in fight-or-flight mode because a 4-year-long tornado was attacking our house, and then the tornado finally leaves our town. Yes, we made it out alive! But holy SHIT, everything’s in disarray and I don’t even know where to START with cleanup! And dammit, how do I vacuum if my Dyson’s broken?!
It may feel discouraging, but we shouldn’t bypass the feeling by disconnecting from it. Instead, sink INTO the feeling. WHERE does the “discomfort” live in your body? WHAT does discomfort even FEEL like for you? What are the BODILY sensations, not the interpretations of them that you’ve concocted in your mind? (Bodily sensation: “tightness in throat”; Mind interpretation: “afraid.”)

Aquarius Season Begins 1/19:
We’ve ALL been feeling the Aquarian vibes this past month, when two trend-setting planets—Jupiter and Saturn—finally moved into the sign of the Water Bearer during the last half of December. Communicative Mercury followed suit about a week ago, and now, the Sun walks firmly into this individualistic and innovative zodiac sign on Tuesday and for the next month!
Our focus has now caught up to our yearnings, and after knowing we need to evolve to that next phase—whatever it is for us—we finally finished up what we were doing and can START on that next phase!
(It’s kinda like when you order an appetizer and entree at a restaurant: you may still be eating your butternut squash soup, but you’re thinking about that Argentinian flank steak that’s coming up. Finally, they clear the empty soup bowl and your gorgeous medium-rare steak arrives! Reality catches up to desire.)
For all of us, different areas of our lives are highlighted. This is the time of the year to put our attention on this area, while the energy’s “on sale” (as I like to say). When you do this, you DO tend to every part of your life over the course of the year, but you get more done with a more efficient use of your energy and effort.
