Remember how last week, I told you nothing much was happening, and to enjoy the calm? Well, I hope you did, because THIS week is one of the BUSIEST astrological weeks we’ll have in all of 2020!
Not only do we have a New Moon Solar Eclipse on Monday, but we have THREE sign changes for different planets—including the “trend defining” outer planets, Jupiter and Saturn!!
New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on 12/14 at 11:17AM EST / 8:17AM PST:
New Moons are times of starting new phases in our lives, though depending on what else is going on with the other planets, events might be jarring or glittery gold. This particular New Moon happens to have AMAZING aspects associated with it! All the other planets are playing nicely with each other—which is fantastic, because this particular New Moon ALSO happens to be an Eclipse, and thus, three times the normal strength! (You can read about how eclipses work in my Gemini Full Moon Lunar Eclipse post from two weeks ago.)
When we have a New Moon, it’s usually the time in our monthly cycle to envision what we desire to create in our lives and start planting those seeds in the coming two weeks. However, because this New Moon is an Eclipse, we should wait a few days before starting to take action. See, Eclipses usually present US with new information and events that we have to respond to. So, it appears something big IS brewing, but for THIS week, we shouldn’t be the ones to initiate: we can dream and vision board, but we should wait to ACT until NEXT week.
This particular New Moon Eclipse is in the sign of Sagittarius, so these are the areas of your life where you might see a fresh start:

Venus enters Sagittarius on 12/15:
When love and abundance planet enters the expansive, optimistic sign of Sagittarius, expect our relationships to get more adventurous and our money habits to get a little risker over the next three weeks!
Venus in the sign of the Archer values more independence in love, and tends to be attracted to people who are different from us (and therefore, whom we can learn from). If partnered, expect to want to get some fresh air in nature with your beloved, or to desire exotic travel (even if that means booking a trip for next year, when we can actually go places again!).

Saturn leaves Capricorn and moves into Aquarius on 12/16:
Serious Saturn has decamped in its home sign of Capricorn for the better part of three years—specifically, since December 19, 2017! Wherever Saturn chooses to reside for his 2.5-/3-year stint, we notice great effort…and great obstacles. It may seem like a certain area of your life has been a struggle to get rolling. It’s been requiring constant work and elbow grease. You’ve had to get realistic and reconcile what you “want” with what you “need.” You may have had to simplify this area of you life, pulling anything frivolous and unnecessary out, like weeds. Whatever remained, you may have had to analyze and validate its purpose for existing. And none of it came easily. It’s like you haven’t gotten a break.
If you can pinpoint a certain issue where this has been the case for almost precisely three years, then that’s probably the area of YOUR horoscope wheel that Saturn has been visiting! In the past year, because lucky Jupiter also joined this area, some of the pressure may have lightened, but you still had problems reaching your ultimate goal. In fact, maybe you STILL haven’t reached it.
Here’s the fantastic news: on Wednesday, Saturn finally LEAVES this area of your chart, to enter the sign of Aquarius! If you’ve done the work and learned your karmic lessons in this area, you might see this issue resolve, almost as if by magic. (If you didn’t do the work, you still might not have achieved what you want. That said, Saturn will not torture you any longer about it, for almost three decades!)
Now, you can get serious about a new area of your life, starting 12/16/2020 until 3/7/2023!
Jupiter leaves Capricorn and moves into Aquarius on 12/19:
Jupiter is the opposite energy of Saturn. Where Saturn is realistic and constrictive and tells you why you can’t, Jupiter is optimistic, expansive and takes a gamble if there’s any chance it could work out at all!
Jupiter’s year-long stay in a sign pretty much defines that year for me. Because of the area of my own chart that he graces, I’ll have extra luck, opportunities, and inclination towards that area. It’s almost a waste if I DON’T utilize Jupiter’s generous graces when he chooses to occupy that part of my horoscope wheel—it takes him around 13 years to come back, so it’d be a missed opportunity, for sure.
Now, in 2020, we might NOT have felt Jupiter in all his glory, like normal, because he was touring Capricorn, side-by-side with buzzkill Saturn. So, instead of Jupiter having free rein to enliven and embolden a certain part of our lives so we could truly soar, it might have felt that Jupiter was merely lifting us up out of the mud and onto normal land. And we should have felt grateful to merely feel like things were “normal-ish.”
So, we have that same dynamic going on in 2021. Jupiter is following Saturn into the ingenious and individualistic sign of Aquarius, so BOTH of these opposite planets will mostly keep each other in check for the coming year. (On the positive, that means Jupiter will keep Saturn’s influence from feeling completely dismal, and will “protect” us from any of Saturn’s harsher lessons!)
Don’t get me wrong—we still DO have opportunity in this area of our charts. It’s just that because Saturn is also there, we’ll have to work for it.
